TheHong Kong. Along with my daughter because I thought that she was old enough (four years old) to experience & enjoy Disneyland, as well as my Mum because I wanted her to experience other cultures away from what she’s accustomed to; I had a point to prove.
I purchased the tickets as a surprise and when I asked my Mum to guess where I had booked the tickets to
(I had booked us a culinary experience trip to Istanbul in 2015), she said: Antalya, Lebanon and never went far enough to even imagine/come close to HONG KONG! When I told her where we’re going she was shocked, confused, and “scared”. We had the best times of our lives & I had accomplished what I was yearning for from this trip: happiness & openness.
Regardless of where you decide to stay in Hong Kong, the transportation system would make every single must-visit attraction/place possible, all you have to do is get familiar with the MTR map & you’re set to explore everywhere! Purchase the MTR pass as soon as you land at the airport and make Hong Kong your oyster!
Below are some our trip’s highlights (which you can simply Google for details rather than read me blabber my excitement about):
The Peak- Make sure to take the scenic tram ride up
Ngong Ping 360: to see "Big Buddha"
Jordan Road, Nathan Road, Hollywood Road
Mong Kok Market
Tsim Sha Tsui: You have to witness Guinness’ World Record of the “World’s Largest Permanent Light & Sound Show”- The Symphony of Lights
La Locanda Italian Cuisine- Jamie’s Italian by Jamie Oliver
Star Ferry & the Ferris Wheel
Ocean Park: to see an actual Panda, as well as other incredible creatures other than human beings…
Disneyland: most TripAdvisor reviews would tell you “it’s too small”, but coming from the Middle East it was perfect for us as a first Disneyland experience and made it easy to fully explore and enjoy in one day, rather than cry over not being able to see it and feel it all.
Would I visit again? Most definitely! Not only to re-experience all of the above again, but also because I am confident there's so much more to yet see and explore...
