Salzburg, Fairy Tale Living
I consider myself so very fortunate to be a Salzburg Academy on Media & Global Change Alumnus. This “three-week action research and critical making program that brings young media makers together from around the world to critique and create civic media for social change”, has changed my life, forever.
I spent three unforgettable weeks connecting & making friendships with the world’s finest youth, as we chatted away our differences, similarities and everything in between. Our oath to take on & pass on our experience has proven to be timeless and boundless: we are all citizens of the world, regardless of where we live. Human connection is what makes all fairy tales a possible reality.
Here are my top places to visit if you’re ever in this gorgeous city:
Mirabell Palace and Gardens: shooting location of “The Sound of Music”
Mozart's Birthplace & the Old Town
New Residence & Carillon
Residenzplatz Square & Residence Fountain
Getreidegasse: a gorgeous pedestrian walk with international label as well as local boutiques
Schloss Hellbrunn: This Trick Fountains Palace is a great family activity location
Salt Mine Berchtesgaden: you’ll take a fun 36 meters-long miners’ slide to the bottom & then enjoy an impressive multimedia narration of the site’s history, as well as come across a sign that tells you you’re now crossing to Germany!
Red Bull Arena: I was lucky enough to actually attend a football match for the Red Bulls (Salzburg’s local team) during my visit! This was/still remains my very first time to ever attend a live match, of any type, in a stadium.
Would I visit again? HELL YES! I can't wait to be back to experience Salzburg's gorgeousness all over again.
